Natural Resource Management (NRM)
Regions are based on catchments or bioregions. The Australian Government, in association with state and territory governments has identified 56 regions covering all of Australia.

Catchment Management Authorities (CMAs)
CMAs have been established across New South Wales to ensure that regional communities contribute to how natural resources are managed in their catchments. They work with farmers, Landcare and other ‘carer’ groups, Aboriginal communities, local government, industry and state agencies to respond to the key natural resource management (NRM) issues facing their catchments.

Australian Landcare Council (ALC)
Australian Landcare Council (the Council) is a ministerial advisory body on Landcare and natural resource management. It operates under the Commonwealth Natural Resources Management (Financial Assistance) Act 1992. On 16 December 2009 the then Hon. Tony Burke MP, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry announced the reactivation of the Australian Landcare Council by appointing Kim Chance as Chair of the Council. Kim, a former Minister for agriculture in Western Australia, is well placed to lead the Council as he brings a wealth of agricultural experience and a passion for community Landcare.

National Landcare Network (NLN)
In February 2009, peak Landcare organisations from around the country met to discuss forming a national body for community Landcare. Participants at this inaugural meeting shared a common sense of the importance of an effective national voice for Landcare and could see the opportunity for resource and skill-sharing through a national network. The National Landcare Network consists of two representatives from each State or Territory, as delegates from the relevant state peak representative organisation.
A national representative body to speak for community Landcare ensures that the unique character of Landcare is not lost in the centralised nature of NRM planning. It ensures that the critical role of community engagement in NRM is recognised, and that NRM policies, funding and structural arrangements benefit the community.
