Project Detail

Background to Project Horsley Park Landcare was established in 2007 through the interest of residents in neighbouring properties. These residents have also participated in Fairfield City Council’s scheme to protect and enhance native bushland on private property. The primary objective of the group is to protect the native bushland remnants in Horsley Park of the Cumberland Plain Woodland, an endangered Ecological Community and link these remnants to form corridors.
Key Objectives •Revegetation of private properties with a mixture of trees, shrubs and grasses to reinstate an area of Cumberland Plain Woodland.
•Form a corridor between the properties and Reedy Creek
•Improve and increase biodiversity and create habitats for fauna
•Increase community awareness about the local environment and provide them with a common goal to improve the natural environment
•Improve the skills and knowledge of staff volunteers on landcare, particularly in peri-urban areas
Description of Project The project site has received funding from Coca-Cola South Pacific through Landcare Australia in 2007 and 2009 at the request of Coca-Cola South Pacific. The funding has been utilized to set-up two staff volunteering activities for Coca-Cola South Pacific and Amatil staff after intensive site preparation. The project has been well supported by the Hawkesbury Nepean CMA and has received assistance from Conversation Volunteers and Greencorp Teams.
