Ongoing Volunteer Days

Hawkesbury Young Landcare

We are a group of under 30′s who like to combine adventure and fun activities with environmental work. We work on the Hawkesbury River to partner with other landcare groups and help them to remove weeds and replant native trees.  We have regular activities so contact our email or check our facebook page for the next event. Contact hawkesburyyounglandcare@gmail.com or find them on Facebook.

Illawarra Youth Landcare

As a team of volunteers, the group travels around and visits a different Landcare site one weekend a month. The group lends a helping hand to existing Landcare and Bushcare groups around the Illawarra region. Members of the group not only learn about environmental management issues, but also benefit from networking opportunities, build on social skills and develop a more sound understanding of the real environmental challenges this region is facing.

This is a great way for volunteers to see parts of this region they may never normally get to visit. Not only is it a fun day out in the great outdoors, it’s an opportunity to lend a helping hand to our beautiful environment, and the wonderful groups that already exist. There are some spectacular sites out there that need our help and activities include creek restoration, bushland regeneration, and open space revegetation. Each working bee is topped off with a social event.

Hawkesbury Rainforest Network

Join the team of over 40 landholders working to restore the beautiful Wheeny Creek near Kurrajong. The team are protecting the habitat of the endangered Macquarie Perch, found in no other waterways outside of National Park. “We have a real chance to keep this waterway healthy through creating a bush and rainforest buffer around the creek.” says Robin Woods who is coordinating the project. The Network invites people interested in volunteering to contact hrn@eftel.net.au or visit their website www.hawkesburyrainforest.org.au
