Coles
Coles has been a proud and long standing partner of Landcare Australia since 2001. Together we have created one of the most successful campaigns to benefit the environment through the sale of Coles reusable shopping bags.
Funds raised through the sale of reusable bags at Coles go towards funding school garden projects which teach children about caring for their local environment. In 2011 the partnership reached a significant milestone with over 1,000 schools and youth groups receiving a grant since 2008. This was celebrated with the “My Favourite Thing in the Garden” Photo Competition. Landcare Australia and Coles have a strong working partnership that sees them develop unique and interesting ways to fund environmental work within the community. Landcare Australia’s role involves:
- developing campaign concepts and comprehensive marketing strategies
- developing media kits for all stakeholders
- organising media events and securing media coverage
- managing open grant process which in itself involves;
- writing grant guidelines
- managing all enquiries
- receiving and assessing all grant applications
- creating shortlist of successful applicants
- advising all successful applicants
- managing the distribution of funds
- liaising with schools to maximise success of all projects
- helping with reporting for each project
Each year approximately 300 projects are awarded a Coles Junior Landcare Grant.
