Be Natural Landcare grants now closed

Be Natural Landcare grants program imageLandcare Australia and Be Natural are pleased to launch a $125,000 grants program that will provide funding to voluntary environmental community groups across Australia. This grants program will enable groups to continue their great work in tackling local environmental issues by providing funding to help with the continuation of on-going projects.

The Be Natural Landcare grants program will provide grants of up to $5,000 to 25 local groups to help with the projects which have not received funding in the last 12 months. Through the grants program, groups will also be encouraged to find innovative ways of attracting more volunteers to their group and projects.

Be Natural Cereal and Snacks has been in partnership with Landcare Australia since 2010 and has supported a number of Landcare groups to help them tackle existing environmental issues at a local level such as exotic weed management, fauna surveys, management plans and providing access ways to reduce disturbance to vegetation. The groups being funded also have a key focus on encouraging local people to engage with the projects and get involved.

Nik Scotcher, Marketing Manager, Be Natural, sees a natural fit between the Be Natural brand and the Landcare movement.
“At Be Natural, we greatly admire the work that is being done at a local level by Landcare groups and are delighted to be able to support their efforts. The aim of the partnership with Landcare Australia is to take small steps towards making a positive and ongoing contribution to our natural landscape and environment, and through the Be Naturally Landcare grants program we believe we can do just that,” he commented.

CEO of Landcare Australia, Heather Campbell, believes that the funding provided through the Be Natural Landcare program will be of great benefit to local groups.

“Landcare groups across Australia are doing fantastic work at a local level tackling ongoing environmental issues. Through this grants program we hope to be able to help facilitate this ongoing work while also focusing on the hugely important task of encouraging more volunteers into the Landcare movement,” she said.

The grants are open to any community, environmental volunteer group that falls under the Landcare umbrella including Bushcare, Dunecare, Rivercare, ‘Friends of’ groups, and groups of farmers that embrace sustainable farm management.
Applications for the Be Natural Landcare grants are closed on the 10th October 2011.
