Coastcare Update
Dear Coastcarers and Landcarers,
Following consultations and research it has become apparent that December is not the ideal time of year for a national Coastcare campaign. The climate at this time of year is not suitable for a large degree of coastal environmental work in many areas of the country and as a result Landcare Australia is not running a national Coastcare Week campaign this year.
Regional campaigns will be running across the country however and Landcare Australia is on hand to provide support to groups by promoting their events and activities on our website.
LAL is in discussion with the Federal Government about running a national Coastcare Week campaign during the April to June period which will enable a much larger network of groups across the country to get involved in projects in their local areas.
Please contact your local NRM, Council or Coastcare Group to see if there is a Coastcare Week or any Coastcare activities happening in your area this month. Also, if you are a member of a Coastcare Group and would like us to promote your summer activities on our website, please feel free to contact us.
As 2010 draws to a close, the team at Landcare Australia would like to thank all Landcare, Coastcare and Junior Landcare groups as well as all other community groups, corporate sponsors, government supporters and friends, for your continued support of the Landcare and Coastcare communities over the past year.
It is as a result of the generosity of organisations and individuals that Landcare and Coastcare groups across Australia can continue with their incredible work.
We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to a successful 2011.
In Coastcare,
