Help your school or youth group win a $5000 Junior Landcare Garden Grant!


Plus there are an additional 5 x $1000 garden grants up for grabs.

Coles and Yates are working together with Junior Landcare to educate children about sustainability and the environment.  As part of this program there are $10 000 worth of garden grants available to schools and youth groups.  These grants will encourage children to get their hands dirty and learn more about nature.

How can your group win?

Step 1 Nominate a representative over 18 (eg. staff member or parent) from your school or youth group to co-ordinate participation in the promotion.

Step 2 Spread the word to parents, friends and staff to purchase any Yates products from Coles between 25th August and 5th October.

Step 3 Collect and retain the receipts for 50 Yates products purchased in the promotional period.

Terms and Conditions

“Win a $5000 Junior Landcare Coles/Yates Garden Grant for your School or Youth Group” Promotion.

  1. Information on how to enter and prizes forms part of these Conditions of Entry. Entry into Win a $5000 Junior Landcare Yates/Coles Garden Grant for your School or YouthGroup Promotion (Promotion) is deemed to be an acceptance of these Conditions of Entry. Entry is via Internet only.
  2. Promotion commences 00:01 AEST on 25 August 2011 and entries close at 11.59 AEST 5 October 2011 (Promotion Period).
  3. Entry is only open to any school or youth group seeking to educate young Australians about gardening.  If your group is not incorporated you will need to form a partnership with an organisation that will (and can) accept responsibility for administering the financial aspects of your grant, for example an incorporated Landcare or Catchment Management Authority. Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter and printers, suppliers, providers and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter.  For a chance to win eligible entrants must, during the Promotional Period:
    (a) Purchase 50 Yates branded products from any Coles store during the Promotional Period;
    (b) Go to www.landcareonline.com.au and follow the links to the promotion;
    (d) Complete the on-line entry form providing a full contact name (contact must be over 18 years of age), address, phone number, email address, and answer in 100 words or less “How your school or youth group would use a $5000 garden grant”; and
    (e) Press “Enter” to enter the Promotion. Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt by the Promoter. Records of the Promoter are final and conclusive as to time of receipt.
  4. Multiple entries into the Promotion are not permitted
  5. Entrants must retain receipts, for proof of purchase, for all 50 Yates products purchased from Coles stores within the promotional period.
  6. Failure to produce the receipts for all 50 Yates products when requested may, in the absolute discretion of the Promoter, result in invalidation of an entrant’s entries and forfeiture of any right to a prize.
  7. All prizes will only be awarded following any winner validation and verification that the Promoter requires in its sole discretion.
  8. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners. All entries must be the original work of the entrant. All valid entries received during the Promotional Period will be reviewed and individually judged on creativity of their entry. Winners will be notified by phone. Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  9. The best valid entry overall selected from all entries received during Promotion Period will receive the major prize as follows:
    1. A $5000 grant to be spent on the school or youth group’s garden as described in the 100 words or less entry.
    2. The help and advice of Yates’ expert horticulturalist “Judy Horton” for 1 day between 10am and 2pm as agreed between the winner and Judy Horton. This day must be completed by 30th April, 2012.

10. The next best entries, 1 from each of the 5 Stated Areas (see clause 12 below) will win the minor prize, a $1000 garden grant.  There are 5 minor prizes in total valued at $5000.

11. The total prize pool value is AU$10,000.

13. All valid entries received prior to the close of the promotion will be individually judged by promotion judge(s) appointed by the Promoter. Judging will be held at Yates Australia, 1 Gow Street, Padstow NSW 2211 on Friday, 14 October 2011.

14. Winners will be asked to send in receipts for all 50 Yates products purchased  to validate their entry.  Once entry is validated, winners will be asked to supply banking details to receive a direct deposit for the prize amount.

15. The judges may select additional reserve entries which they determine to be the next best, and record them in order, in the case an invalid entry or ineligible entrant is selected as a winner.

16. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners.  Each entry will be individually judged based on originality and creative merit of the answer provided to the promotional question.

17. Entrants consent to the Promoter using the entrant’s name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, quote, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this competition (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.

18. If this promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any entrant; or (b) to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.

19. Any cost associated with accessing the promotional website is the entrant’s responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used. The use of any automated entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means that allows an entrant to automatically enter repeatedly is prohibited and will render all entries submitted by that entrant invalid.

20. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the State and Territories of Australia (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion.

21. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees,  the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or (f) use of a prize.

22. The Promoter collects personal information in order to conduct the Promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including, but not limited to and prize suppliers. Entry is conditional on providing this information. The Promoter may, for an indefinite period unless otherwise advised, use the information for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes including sending electronic messages or telephoning the entrant. Entrants should direct any request to access, update or correct information to the Promoter. All entries become the property of the Promoter.
