Landcare Australia encourages support for Queensland Flood Appeals

Floods Crisis Our heart goes out to all those affected by the flood waters in Queensland. The events of the past weeks and the days to come are devastating local communities. As the rest of Australia has banded together we would like to encourage the broad Landcare community to support the affected communities of Queensland.

Landcare Australia Limited has been in contact with the Landcare community in Queensland and at this stage the best way that Landcare members across Australia can support those in Queensland is through making a donation to the Flood Appeal. As well as the Queensland Government Flood Appeal, Landcare Australia’s corporate partners Woolworths, Westpac and Coles are directly accepting donations for the Flood Appeal.

“Given the breath of Coles, Westpac and Woolworths stores and branches we would like to encourage members of the Landcare community to make a donation directly, anywhere in Australia through their local Woolworths, Westpac or Coles”, said Heather Campbell Landcare Australia CEO.

“Funds donated are provided to the relief agencies. The supermarket chains are also supporting Queensland fresh produce suppliers and Westpac is supporting affected customers with financial relief packages” continued Ms Campbell.

“When the floods have subsided, Landcare Australia will continue to work with the Landcare movement in Queensland and other affected States to determine the most appropriate support that can be provided to the broad range of landcare groups and members in flood affected communities” she added.

Donations can be accepted around Australia as follows:

Queensland Government: Donations www.qld.gov.au

Woolworths: Woolworths supermarkets and BIG W stores will take in-store donations for the Salvation Army’s Flood Appeal at the registers.

Westpac: Westpac is accepting donations within branches for the Flood Appeal for Queensland. Customers are also eligible for a special flood relief package:

Coles: Customers can donate to the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Appeal at the registers of Coles, BI-LO and Pick ‘n Pay stores across Australia.
