Victorians recognised on Australia Day Honours List

Four prominent Victorian landcarers have been recognised with medals of the Order of Australia on the prestigious Australia Day 2012 Honours List, which was announced by the Governor-General on Australia Day.
Lindsay Smith of Horsham was recognised for his service to conservation, the environment and the community. He has been heavily involved in a multitude of organisations and committees that have worked on environmental issues, including Trust for Nature and the Wimmera Catchment Management Authority.
Barry Clugston of Stawell received his medal for service to the community of regional Victoria through a range of water industry and environmental organisations. Among Barry’s outstanding achievements, he was a founding member of Project Platypus with Upper Wimmera Landcare and presented a wildlife program on ABC radio for 15 years.
Rob Youl of South Melbourne was awarded for service to conservation and the environment in Victoria through the landcare movement. Rob has been involved in landcare work since the early 1980s and has most recently been involved in editing the Landcare in Victoria and Landcare in Australia publications, and chairing Australian Landcare International.
Sue Marriott was recognised for her service to conservation and the environment through the Secretariat for International Landcare, and particularly her development of programs dealing with climate change and rural land management.
All four awardees are incredibly well-deserving of their medals and demonstrate just how much passion and dedication there is amongst the landcare community.
