Watermelon Challenge Update

The Yates Junior Landcare Watermelon Challenge is well under way, and we are already starting to see some huge melons! For those who are participating in the challenge, remember to update your progress at www.juniorlandcarechallenge.com.au in order to be in the running for the final prize.

Here are some handy tips to remember as you grow your watermelons:
• Feed the plants every two weeks with Yates Thrive Soluble Plant Food
• Keep the plant well watered. It’s best to water in the morning just where the plant comes out of the soil, keeping the leaves as dry as possible. Once the melon is full sized you can give it less water—it will become sweeter
• Pick your melon when its underside turns a yellow or cream colour
