Start a Group
New group starter kit
If you cannot find a group to suit your interests or no group exists in your local area you can form your own Landcare group. Our New Group Starter Kit is a complete guide to establishing and maintaining your Landcare group.
It will take you through all necessary steps from rallying other volunteers to setting up your committee, registering your group, applying for funding and more.
Establishing a community Landcare group in most cases should be a relatively simple process. To assist those interested in setting up a community Landcare group, this ‘New Group Starter Kit’ has been developed to outline, in a logical and sequential manner, the general steps involved and the formal requirements that need to be considered when starting a group.
It should be noted that there are no hard and fast rules and the steps involved may vary to some degree depending on the particular circumstance of each group.
You may also choose to do things in a slightly different order to what is outlined within this resource; and in recognising these variables the information provided should be considered as a general guide only.
This resource has been developed for anyone who would like to start a Landcare, Coastcare, Bushcare, Dunecare, Friends of, Beachcare, Rivercare or any volunteer group working on local environmental projects in their community.
